Keeper of The Game provides memorable baseball broadcast experiences with help from Frisco RoughRiders

FRISCO, Texas – Keeper of The Game was proud to provide six baseball fans with memorable broadcast experiences thanks to help from the Frisco RoughRiders over Aug. 5-6 at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Miracle League of Frisco athletes Parker Bonkiewicz, Connor Martin, Stephen Meyer, Lee Whitney and Cam Wright joined Keeper of The Game Youth Ambassador Ben Hoctor for a series of interviews, as well as commentary during a pair RoughRiders’ home games against the Corpus Christi Hooks.
“This was a unique and memorable baseball experience for all involved,” Keeper of The Game Executive Director Bryan Hoctor said. “Thank you to the Frisco Roughriders – especially radio broadcaster Ryan Rouillard, manager Joe Mikulik and Chief Operating Officer Scott Burchett – for helping make this happen.”
On Aug. 5, a group met with Rouillard at his office inside Dr Pepper Ballpark. He spoke about the details of his job, how he got to where he is in his career and answered a series of questions. Rouillard then took the group to Mikulik’s office. The group all got to interview the skipper.
After the interview with Mikulik, everyone got to interview a Roughriders player or coach (Martin with Hitting Coach Jason Hart, Meyer with outfielder Preston Beck, Whitney with infielder Brendon Davis, Wright with pitcher Demarcus Evans and Hoctor with infielder Michael De Leon).
A group returned Aug. 6 to Suite 219, where they would experience real-time play-by-play (Martin and Whitney) and color commentary (Meyer, Wright and Parker Bonkiewicz) during the RoughRiders’ 9-3 victory.
“It was a great opportunity to work toward my goal of becoming a sports commentator,” Martin said.
Added Meyer: “I enjoyed doing color commentary and being able to talk about the players and teams.”
The group all said it was an experience they would never forget.
“The best part for me was calling the action and providing information to the audience,” Whitney said. “The interview I conducted with Brendon Davis, who is one of my favorite players, made it even more special. I’ll always remember these two days!”
