Keeper of The Game, Pastime Training Center produce another record-setting food drive

FRISCO, Texas – The Keeper of The Game Foundation and Pastime Training Center teamed up together for the sixth consecutive year for the Strike Out Hunger Food Drive to benefit the Frisco Family Services Food Pantry. The month-long campaign resulted in a record-setting 11,723 pounds of non-perishable food items donated, which is the largest donation the facility has received all year.
In six years of the drive, more than 27,000 pounds of food has been provided to Frisco Family Services. The totals have increased each year.
“Frisco Family Services has been receiving generous donations for our food pantry from Keeper of the Game and Pastime Training Center since 2014,” Frisco Family Services Development Director Melanie Smoot said. “Every year, they keep upping their game. This year, the donations will provide 9,769 meals to individuals in need or in crisis in our Frisco and Frisco ISD communities. Thank you to Keeper of the Game and Pastime Training Center for ensuring a blessed holiday season for so many families, children and seniors!”
The event also serves as a competition between all Frisco ISD high schools with baseball and softball teams working together to see who can donate the most items, which includes baby diapers and toiletry items.
Liberty High School took home the trophy for the third consecutive year, edging out Lebanon Trail High School. The Redhawks won another pizza party from Keeper of The Game supporter Durkin’s Pizza. Scott McGarrh coaches the LHS baseball team, while Jill Bradshaw leads the Lady Redhawks softball squad.
Every FISD team had representatives at Frisco Family Services Food Pantry on Nov. 20 for the official donation drop-off event.
“The support level from Frisco ISD baseball and softball teams was amazing,” Keeper of The Game Executive Director Bryan Hoctor said. “This year’s drive saw the closest competition for the trophy and the greatest participation across the board. It’s wonderful to see baseball and softball programs all working together for those in need in Frisco.”
Donations were also collected at The Miracle League of Frisco games and Middle School Matchup’s baseball and softball tournaments from Nov. 8-10.
“It’s an honor to team up with Keeper of The Game for this food drive,” Pastime Training Center owner and former Major League Baseball player Jason Jennings said. “The holiday season is a great time to come together and help our community. Not only am I proud of our PTC families and all our partners in the food drive, but our Frisco ISD kids came through huge again this year. It’s my hope that with these donations, every family in our community can enjoy this special time of year and look forward to a great 2020.”
