FRISCO, Texas – The Keeper of the Game Foundation (KoTG) announced on Tuesday, June 30, that it has named Chad Pittman as Advisor for the Fort Worth and Mid-Cities area of Texas.
Pittman’s primary responsibilities at KoTG will be to help develop KoTG awareness and provide community service to the Fort Worth and Mid-Cities area.
“Our foundation is excited about the addition of Chad Pittman,” KoTG Founder James Vilade said. “He brings an outstanding amount of enthusiasm, big heart for the game of baseball and an even bigger heart for helping those in need.”
Pittman, a native of Haltom City, Texas, was drafted by the Houston Astros as an outfielder out of Haltom High School in 1993 and attended Vernon Regional Junior College for two years on a baseball scholarship. Following his playing days in 1996, Pittman jumped right into coaching and has been doing so ever since.
Pittman has coached for the Dallas Patriots Organization for eight years, also serving the past three as Director of Baseball Operations. In addition, he scouts for the Toronto Blue Jays. Pittman’s other coaching stops have included USA Baseball in Raleigh, N.C., and Palm Beach, Fla., and Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas.
Pittman and his wife Shannon, and their two sons, Riley and Parker, reside in North Richland Hills, Texas. Riley will attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in the fall on a baseball scholarship.
“The addition of Chad Pittman along with the support of his family will allow our foundation to grow and advance on a daily basis,” Vilade said.
KoTG was founded on Oct. 16, 2014 by Vilade, who is an assistant coach for Oklahoma State University. The foundation’s mission is to provide athletes with disabilities and special needs unique baseball experiences that foster the growth of those individuals and their love of baseball. KoTG promotes programs that allow these athletes to play, watch and experience baseball at a very personal level. This is all done with a focus on advancing servant leadership.
Along with Pittman, serving in advisors roles for KoTG include: Mike Basso (Major League Baseball); Salomon Manriquez (Texas Rangers); Brian Master (High School); Brian Hoctor (Youth Ambassador); Amber McDonald (Miracle League Player Representative); and Sharon Pyrurn (Special Education Programming).
